Founded in January 1949, the Royal Arch Park was made possible by the Royal Arch Masons Association of King County through the purchase of 48 acres along the Cedar River. Much fundraising, planning, volunteer work went into securing 23 acres to the North of the river and 25 acres to the South—as well as building the log shelters, bathrooms, and trails. Since that time, much of the land North of the River has been transferred to the Peterson Lake Park Natural Area leaving the remaining 26 acres you see today.
A non-profit organization, Royal Arch Park partners with community organizations, including Girl Scouts of Western WA, Boy Scouts, and Haunted Forest of Maple Valley, to provide space for their activities and events. We also welcome the public to rent shelters and areas of our park for their family, community, and corporate events..
Time, major floods, and the meandering course of the river have changed the landscape here, but the natural beauty continues to return. Picnic, reunion, outdoor education, retreat, party, or wedding...we have a spot perfect for you!
